August 2013 - Michael Goldman authored a presentation entitled Communicating Financial Information and Evidence for use at NACVA state chapter meetings.  The presentation was selected for use by state chapters in Virginia, Alaska, Maryland / Washington DC, Michigan, Oregon, Ohio, New York, and other states.  
American Bankruptcy Institute June 2013 - Michael Goldman participated as a panel speaker on the topic of Cross-Examining Financial Experts Valuing Assets at the American Bankruptcy Institute's 20th Annual Central States Bankruptcy Workshop.  This milestone program featured an outstanding faculty featuring academics, leading practitioners from top national insolvency firms, and more than 15 judges.  
Westlaw May 2013 - Michael Goldman appeared as a speaker on the webinar How to Litigate Lost Profits as a part of Westlaw's  WestLegalEdcenter's Complex Financial Litigation Series.  
Fraudulent Conveyance April 2013 - Michael Goldman appeared as a panel speaker at the  Commercial Law League of America's 119th National Convention on the topic of Use of Turnaround Professionals in Fraudulent Conveyances and Other Avoidance Actions

March 2013 - Michael Goldman submitted expert reports in two avoidance action cases being litigated in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Northern District of Illinois.
 
Frand Detection February 2013 - Michael Goldman attended the Advanced Interviewing Techniques Workshop given by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. This course went beyond basic theory and covered topics such as personality dynamics, asking the right questions, developing and using rapport, detecting deception, panning and executing an effective interviewing strategy, and legal issues related to interviewing.

Stack of cash - value September 2012 - Michael Goldman was appointed Chief Restructuring Officer of Amazing Food Creations, LLC, a creator and manufacturer of gourmet frozen ready-to-eat meals.  The company's assets were ultimately sold at auction in a UCC sale and purchased by Lyfe Kitchen Inc, saving 40 jobs in the Chicago area.

June 2012 - Michael Goldman was a featured speaker in a live webcast titled What You Need to Know About Fraudulent Conveyance Law produced by The Knowledge Group L.L.C.

The program provided a concise and helpful overview of the federal and state fraudulent conveyance laws, their real-life applications and practical guidance for asserting and defending against such claims. The program was of interest to bankruptcy and insolvency professionals, but was geared to appeal broadly to an array of professionals, including bankers, accountants and non-bankruptcy attorneys.

August 2010 - Michael Goldman's testimony relied on by bankruptcy judge

Michael Goldman provided expert testimony in Federal Bankruptcy Court in Chicago regarding the viability of a debtor, the possibility of rehabilitation, and the likelihood of diminishment of the estate.  The judge accepted Mr. Goldman's opinions as part of her ruling dismissing the bankruptcy case.

April 2010 - Michael Goldman presented as a panel speaker at the 28th Annual Spring Meeting of the American Bankruptcy Institute

Michael Goldman was a panel speaker at the American Bankruptcy Institute's Spring Meeting in Washington, D.C.  The panel discussed commercial fraud in a bankruptcy setting, advised trustees on how to respond to allegations of fraud, introduced the new ABI Commercial Fraud Manual, and presented a recent case study.


 
February 2010 - Goldman's expert testimony relied on by jury in Lost Profits case

Michael Goldman provided expert testimony in State Court in Milwaukee regarding lost profits of a start-up business and personal goodwill of a law practice.  The jury accepted Mr. Goldman's opinions and awarded damages based on the analysis provided in Mr. Goldman's report.


Commercial Fraud Manual
January 2010 - American Bankruptcy Institute publishes Commercial Fraud Manual with a chapter written by Michael Goldman

The American Bankruptcy Institute has released Commercial Fraud Manual, which provides the framework and vocabulary necessary to understand, confront and defeat commercial fraud issues. A special project of the American Bankruptcy Institute’s Commercial Fraud Task Force, the Manual was written by Eugene S. Becker of Becker Law, Margaret Daley of Duff & Phelps, LLC, Daniel F. Dooley of Morris Anderson & Associates, Ltd., Michael Goldman of Michael Goldman & Associates, LLC, Richard S. Lauter of Freeborn & Peters LLP, David P. Leibowitz of the Lakelaw/Leibowitz Law Center and Eric S. Rein of Dykema Gossett PLLC. The Manual explains different types of fraud, the mechanics of forensic investigations and computer forensics, the legal response to fraud and international fraud remedies, concluding with a discussion of the major fraud cases in 2009.

December 2009 - Goldman's Expert Testimony relied on in Divorce case

Michael Goldman had previously provided testimony regarding business valuation, business solvency, and the intentional bankrupting of a company in a divorce case.  Judge Loredo-Rivera issued an opinion this month stating that "Mr. Goldman's testimony in this regard is persuasive" and ruled in favor of Goldman's client.
